Would someone be so kind as to post the Ithaca Manufacture Dates or a link to Walt Snyder's list for the Model 37 production dates? Just picked up my fifth Ithaca shotgun, a 20 gauge from around 1971, IIRC. Thanks!

http://www.ithacagun.com/pdfs/serialnumbers.pdf If you lose this link, just go to the Ithaca Gun Co website, then to resources, then to serial numbers. Walt Snyder quite graciously gave permission to Ithaca to post his work product on their website. By all means though buy his book on the 37. I learned more about the Ithaca 37 in four nights of reading that book than I had in 40 years of shooting and loving them!!!

Thanks gents for the link and the recommendation of Walt's book. I know it sounds crazy but lately I've bought a few Model 37s for the price of Mr. Ithaca's when you include shipping up to Canada... The book's on my reading list, hopefully another prewar 16 gauge Model 37 doesn't offer to come home with me for a measly $100.-.

So... Mr Featherlight ser. # is 549XX -4 Does that make it a 1942 with the dash signifying a choke or barrel? Or, is it a 1954? I am ignorant in Ohio.

If it is a standard M 37 it does indeed mean it was made in 1942. The dash does mean the choke designation. The numbers on the barrel are. 0-CYL 1- I Cyl 2- Mod 3- IMP Mod ( This was seldom used if at all) 4- Full S- Skeet

flpohio, I'm pleased to be the first to welcome you to Shotgunworld!!! I've been hooked on this site for years now. There are some very well informed fellas here who are quite willing to share their knowledge. What part of Ohio are you in? I'm about 30 miles southeast of Cleveland.
